4D Studio and Intermediate Sculpture: The pictures

I made some modifications to the Zombie Barbie today and took a few low quality pictures so I could post before 5 pm today. Here she is, no longer naked but dressed up for the prom. I deactivated the Esty sales page and will take new and better pictures next week when I I have time to drag my lights and soft-box out.

Intermediate Sculpture: Final Thoughts

The Art Doll project has come it's 11 week close and will soon start on a new phase. So far it has cost ca. $200 dollars but several of the created items can be reused over and over.

There is not much that can be shown for the effort because most of what was created was skill in working with my materials and you just can't take a picture of that.

The heads are amazing, the compasses are cool and the pith helmet and goggles are nonexistent and for the time being they will remain so. I think the sculpted heads are great and will be my main emphasis for the time being, I plan to sell unpainted heads without bodies as well as finished head mounted on bodies.

Over all I am very happy with my work this quarter and feel like I learned a lot and Got to meet a lot of nice people.

Intermediate Sculpture: one head, a zombie

Can we talk about stupidity for a moment...I left both my molds at school on Friday; then on Saturday morning it was all locked up and nosecurity or maintenance people to let me into the annex. Dumbest part I didn't take a picture of the cat girl head.

Intermediate Sculpture: My Project Proposal

Andrew Kolb

Proposal for Intermediate Sculpture

Steam Punk Accessories for 11.5” and 14” dolls

Steam Punk, literature, art and costuming is very popular now and I personally enjoy participating in it and I agree with the sentiments of the movement, making things by hand or with simple machines. Basically Steam Punk is an alternate vision of the Victorian era, where Steam power is the predominate form of energy. I feel like the full size costuming market for Steam Punk accessories is saturated right now but I have not seen anyone making these things for dolls.

I will be working alone on this as that is how I best work.

My goals are to create a selection of objects that I can make multiple casts from.

I will cast in Polyester Resin, Epoxy and possibly pewter.

I will use Silicon and Plaster of Paris to make my molds.

I will sculpt the object from plumber’s epoxy, Fimo, Scuply, Styrofoam or other material as needed.

My secondary goal is to sell one or more of the objects I create before the class ends.

To reach this goal I will use Etsy and EBay to sell my products

I will also consider using something like Google Ad Words to draw attention to my products.

I believe I will be able to accomplish both goals within the allotted time frame.

There are no major hazards other than the need to be careful with the Resin and epoxies; and there will be nothing inappropriate for general viewing.
